Antique Flower Chatelaine with Silver Scissors

This is really two treasures in one! The embroidered chatelaine or scissor pouch is decorated with fantasy flowers worked in counted cross stitch and is lined with hand-dyed pure wool felt.

The antique scissors have hall marked silver handles and steel blades and are in excellent condition. I have added a beautiful shell button and a piece of hand-dyed silk ribbon to hold the scissors in place. A unique treasure…

I have collected embroidery scissors for many years and now have over 100 pairs in varying age, quality, and variety. At my last visit to an auction, I bought two lots including pretty scissors and I think these are my favourites. These really appealed to me with chunky but surprisingly light handles and straight blades. I cannot read the hallmark, but they are certainly vintage and beautifully made.
