Catherine Archer Journal

Meet another lovely treasure created for me by bookmaker extraordinaire Kate Bowles.  I just love my Catherine Archer fabric and it is so special that I asked Kate to make these books for me.

Each book is hand crafted using upcycled papers and even handmade envelopes, and the hard cover is wrapped in printed linen. These books are always limited as Kate’s skills are so in demand. As a result, I always have some on order but only in small quantities.

The book contains plain paper and handmade envelopes and has a linen tie closure. It is supplied wrapped in tissue and boxed. The Journal measures 6 x 4in (15 x 10cm).

I am never without a daybook. My brain is so often off at a tangent that I need a place to record ideas before they escape. I am very fussy about my notebooks and have been known to exasperate shopping companions as I declare that I can’t find a book with just the right space between the lines! Since I discovered Kate’s work, I have never looked back.

We first met at the Knitting & Stitching Show in Harrogate some years ago. We got talking and she showed me an example of her hand-bound books and now I’m never without one.

They make me feel creative even when I am making the most mundane of notes and I love having ‘envelope’ pages for all manner of swatches and scraps I collect.
