Seaside Garden Silk Collection
As you may have gathered by now, I became the lucky recipient of 1500 skeins of the most beautiful silk thread. I set to work selecting collections I thought you would enjoy and enlisted my husband to help me wind all the colours onto vintage-style thread winders. The Monet and the Dahlia Silk collections have been very popular, and this is the latest in the series. Although this time there are just nine colours in this Seaside range, I think you will agree that they are just lovely. I have selected colours found in shingle, sand, shells plants and, of course, the sea.
My silk thread originated from France and is hand-dyed in the USA. It is a spun silk thread with the beauty, lustre, and shine of silk but doesn’t catch on your hands – it is a joy to use. The size of one strand is comparable to other stranded yarns and I have found that I am happy with two strands for cross stitch on 28-count and 32-count linen. Of course, it is perfect for freestyle embroidery too.
To help you enjoy your threads even more, I have commissioned replica thread winders on which to keep them. Each winder is supplied with 3 yards (2.7m) of 12-ply silk, and there’s a little notch to make it easy to keep your threads well behaved.

The story of this little treasure
The seaside is very close to my heart, as I was brought up on the Kent coastline. My childhood memories were of very long hot days collecting shells and playing in the shallow surf with brilliant picnic lunches in the sand dunes, sheltered from the wind. You can imagine it was difficult to stop at 12 shades for this collection. I’d love to share some more seaside nostalgia, so please join me here.
