These simply delicious little books have been hand-crafted to become little workbooks that you can personalise as you wish, or simply use as a safe place for your special gold-plated needles. I am sure you won’t be able to resist making it yours, with pages just waiting for a little embellishment. To inspire you, I am adding an alphabet chart so you can stitch your initials or even wax lyrical with quotes and sayings that are special to you. (The letters come from the original Catherine Archer Sampler featured in the heart on the front of the workbook.)
Each book cover is cut from a French vintage sheet, with an appliqué heart made from hand-printed Catherine Archer fabric, and a gold-plated needle. Each book includes 10 fabric pages, plus a loose piece of fabric ready for you to embroider if you wish. The book is specially constructed so that you can add extra pages of your own treasured fabrics. Closed, it measures 6 x 4.5in (15 x 11.5cm).
I am also including a sheet of handmade paper (From Baileys) in case you want to attach any mementoes – mine has a little pressed flower from this year’s hanging baskets…
The pages include vintage fabrics, French chintz, linen twill and evenweave material, plus a surprise heart-shaped centre spread, which includes surface embroidery from the 1950s.

The story of this little treasure
I love the idea of workbooks and lovely notes books and similar – many of you will have seen the gorgeous books made for us by Kate Bowles. (More treasures from Kate coming next month!) But I also love the idea of fabric books. Perhaps this started with a rag book as a child!
You can see some of my stitched books done for the CSG here, so I guess it is not surprise that I found myself starting with a needlebook and it becoming so much more…
