Vintage Shell Tape Measure
This clever little tape measure is made from a real shell with a silk imperial tape wound inside. There is a little wooden peg fitted so that you can wind up the tape measure after use. Probably late 19th/early 20th century and perfect for the stitchy collector. It measures approximately 2 x 1.5in (5 x 3.5cm).

The story of this little treasure
I am not sure of the origins of this treasure, but it would certainly tie in with the Victorian passion for all things shells! There are no makers names or any other clues, but it is such a wonderfully eccentric object.
