Defrosting pots again this year?

During the turn out of the greenhouse I discovered dwarf narcissi, allium and a few tulip bulbs still in their packs.

I am still not sure how this happened. After all my planting plans, and extra time in lockdown, I still missed some autumn bulbs. There they were staring at me from their ‘safe place’ in the greenhouse. I thought I was really organised but apparently not.

As in previous years, I have planted lots of bulbs in the main garden and, as always, I have moved a selection of filled pots around to the courtyard garden ready for planting. Only I didn’t and they are empty. During the turn out of the greenhouse I discovered dwarf narcissi, allium and a few tulip bulbs still in their packs.

There was simply no way I could attempt to plant these poor things without a hammer and chisel as the compost was frozen solid.

Not for the first time, I covered the shiny new Rayburn with frozen pots and once defrosted managed to plant all the bulbs safely. Clutching a pot of enamel cleaner, I am now attempting to hide my sins while Bill is being a hospital driver and will be safely out of the house for a few hours.
