It is all go here at Pinks. The house needs quite a lot of maintenance, so I decided to go mad and have new carpets upstairs while we were at it. A great idea at the time, but madness when it came to taking everything out of each room. One of the rooms is my workroom, so you can only imagine how much upheaval there has been. (And a few ‘rediscoveries’ along the way!) We just had to get out of the house for the day.
We had booked concert tickets for the evening and decided to make the most of the journey down to Basingstoke. First we went to Guildford to see the 27ft ‘Knife Angel’ sculpture and to say that we were knocked backwards is no exaggeration! The sculpture is striking and but also sad as well as a positive. I will quote: “The sculpture, made from over 100,000 seized blades, was specifically created to highlight the negative effects of violent behaviour whilst solidifying our critical need for social change. Not only does the Angel act as a catalyst for turning the tide on violent and aggressive behaviour, but it is also acts as a beautiful memorial designed to celebrate those lives who have been lost through these violent and thoughtless actions.” The sculpture is touring, so do visit if it comes your way. You’ll find the dates here.
Next stop was Guildford Cathedral where we saw the beautiful Charleston Banner, then we went on to The Anvil in Basingstoke for our concert given by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Very uplifting and the perfect end to a lovely day. Now to reassemble my workroom…
