Talking of books…

Many people have told me that all my experiences would make a book and it took me a long time to take the thought seriously.

I was having a rummage on our library shelves and I had to chuckle when I saw my shelf full of foreign editions of the books I have written.

My contract with my various publishers has always stipulated that when a book is produced in another language the author (your truly) gets a copy. Did you know that even names are translated? I become Jane Greenoffova in some languages, while Bill is mentioned in the credits as Billovi. My Chinese books are, of course, a complete mystery as they start from the back pages and work forward!

Now the whole thing about Chinese stuff has become much more immediate. I have been persuaded to write a sort of story about how I got to do what I do. Many people have told me that all my experiences would make a book and it took me a long time to take the thought seriously.

Late last year a proper plan started to take shape and started writing Following a Thread which, God willing and the creek not rising (a favourite old American saying) you will be able to read when it launches in October 2025.

My first ‘proof’ copy has just arrived, and I can’t resist showing you the cover.

Now this started as a little book, then I waxed lyrical, and it grew and it grew. As a result, my book is being printed in China coordinated by a wonderful lady named Jia.

I have just confirmed that Following a Thread will be launched live on Sewing Street. The date isn’t confirmed yet, but I will keep you informed.

Why The Stitch Book?

Why The Stitch Book?

After a frustrating interlude where I could not remember where to start, I shouted “Bloody hell, I need a stitch book!” A lightbulb moment.
