Originally a linen class here at Pinks Barn, this is a very decorative object and is a one off treasure and cannot be repeated! Worked on linen eyelet band, it is self-lined with a flannel patch for needles. Much of the embroidery is worked in stranded cottons (floss) and the Hardanger section is worked with Oliver Twist cotton threads. The stitches used include bullion, woven bars, detached buttonhole as well as the traditional cross stitch and Hardanger elements.

It measures 7 x 4in (17.5 x 10cm) and is supplied wrapped in tissue and gift boxed.

The story of this little treasure

There is no doubt that the technique that causes the most anguish to the novice and the most excitement when mastered is Hardanger embroidery. I think it is just the thought that after all your care and attention to the stitching, you are going to cut the fabric threads. Although the secret of the construction always works, it is still a giant leap of faith!
