Three Pansy Watbo Scissor Keeper

1 in stock

This project started as a little cross stitch design class. My group of students were given simple drawings of pansy faces and then transferred the line drawing into backstitch on my cross stitch design program and then coloured in the squares using the Madeira shade card. As a result, we created a pansy watbo with each of the three faces of the Watbo looking different.

The watbo measures 2in (5cm) and is supplied with tiny Italian gold plated chatelaine scissor on a matching twisted cords, wrapped in tissue and gift boxed.

The story of this little treasure

During a holiday to the Far East, my husband and I spent time in Cambodia, and I visited Siem Reap where the night markets were simply stuffed full of cross stitch. The counted technique is commonly used on traditional costume, and even pleated skirts were covered in stitching. In many of the country villages stitched items were on sale and I have no idea how I did not buy them all! I did buy a woven key ring, which has inspired my shaped scissor fob. I have called this shape a Watbo after the Watbo Temple near the night market. A Watbo is made from three squares, and the making up is where the magic happens!
