Beasts & Flowers Pocket Scissor Stand
This exquisite stitcher’s accessory was inspired by simple spice bags from Morocco. The bobbin stand was hand tuned by Paul Jones in ethically sourced hard wood and is carefully shaped to fit the completed stitched piece with a bevelled tray at the bottom for pins, beads and needles.
The Italian lion’s tail scissors are attached by a twisted cord and gold-plated chatelaine scissors are held with a covered brass ring. The needlebook sits in one of the pockets with two needlework tools modelled on Victorian teaspoon handles.
The stand measures 8in (20cm) high and 4in (10cm) across, has four pockets and one small, fixed pincushion. This treasure is supplied gift boxed with two pair of scissors, two faux ivory tools, three gold-plated needles and one glass counting pin.

The story of this little treasure
This idea did really start when I saw a simple set of spice bags which were actually standing on a glass bottle! The designs on the pockets are partly taken from antique samplers, and some are imagined flowers from early tapestries. The pockets and the supports are made from pure evenweave 28-count linen band sourced in Germany. The counting pin is made by lampworking techniques and all the scissors are Italian.
