Chinese Cup & Saucer Pincushion

This hand-painted tea or coffee cup and saucer now has a new life as a pincushion! I love the rich red and golds in the design, so reflected these with my choice of red fabric, twisted cord and the gold scissors attached to the handle. The scissors can sit neatly in the saucer until needed.

The Chinese cup will be thoughtfully wrapped and supplied with three pearl-headed pins.

I had for some years collected what I think are referred to as trios – vintage cups and saucers with a matching side plate. This was, of course, before cross stitch when I had time for other hobbies and collections! Today I have either dropped the plate, run out of dresser space or simply changed my mind so many of my cups and saucers have been converted into pincushions and scissor stands.
