Coloured Beaded Reticule

This dear little Victorian beaded purse is so pretty and in very good condition. The pattern is continued on both sides and the clasp still works! The depth of colour of the beads is still glorious after all these years.

It measures 3 x 4in (7.5 x 10cm) and is supplied gift boxed.

Going back to the days – or should I say nights – when I was a Night Sister at Brighton General, I collected vintage bags and purses. I still have a few which I have now had for over 40 years. Work meant that I needed to sleep during the day, but I would treat myself to an outing once or twice a week. This often led me to the antique markets in the Old Town. Last month my esteemed Editor and I spent a lovely day in the Lanes in Brighton but things had changed quite a bit since my time there. The Lanes were filled with diamond jewellery shops, I am afraid all the antiquey places are long gone.
