Faux Mahogany Sampler Box
This gorgeous box with lift-out tray is made of resin and then stained to look like mahogany. There are no trees involved! I designed all the images on the box and the scissors on the lid were moulded from a pair of my favourites.
Made for me here in Gloucestershire, this treat is exclusive to Finder of Treasures. These boxes are limited and, if you are outside the UK, I will need to get in touch about the cost of shipping as they are quite heavy.
The box is beautifully made and has a felt bottom to prevent scratching a polished surface. It measures 5.5 x 8 x 4.5in (14 x 20 x 11.5cm).

The story of this little treasure
I have been associated with History Craft (Cirencester) for over 25 years and am now working with the third owner. The original company was started by Leigh Chapman over 50 years ago making replicas of items from resin when museums wanted things for their gift shops. He created things like faux scrimshaw whale’s teeth, fossils and even some smaller sculptures. My husband Bill got chatting to Leigh in the local post office and that is how it all started. Leigh is long since retired and History Craft have broadened their range to include things like chess sets and even a Viking game. The Cross Stitch Guild are very much still customers and if you look at the CSG website and click on Accessories, you will see the faux ivory items they have.
