Hand Crafted Scissor String with Gold-plated Scissors

My fellow stitcher/maker, Carole Hughes of counting pin fame has decided that she has not retired after all (I know the feeling!) and has not only made me lovely counting pins but has also been digging about in her studio and has made me the most glorious collection of scissor strings. Carole’s bead collection is extraordinary and all of them are selected for their colour and quality.

Every one is different in colour, weight and length so there is an element of potluck when you order! Each scissor string has a small silver or gold-pated dog clip which is attached to gold-plated stork scissors.

I rarely admit to anyone how many pairs of stitching scissors I have in my office, and I am not including new stock but in or on my desk! It is a bit of a compulsion not unlike handbags! Tonight, I have counted 55 assorted pairs, not all in good condition as I collect both old and new. Carole has made very pretty scissor strings or weights and I do not know how I shall part with them!
