The Thread Thief Sweete Bag with Faux Ivory Thread Holder

This very special project has been brewing ever since I found a little deserted bird’s nest in my garden. I have turned it into a kit for you to enjoy making for yourselves.

The little thrush on the front of the bag is a regular visitor to the courtyard at Pinks Barn and it looks as if the stork scissor bird on the back has also been stealing threads!

In addition, there is a faux ivory thread holder, designed for me by Ethan Danielson and etched here in Gloucestershire. To match, I have added a unique charm, crafted from a piece of upcycled piano key – everyone slightly different!

Your kit arrives boxed and will include the unbleached linen, eyelet unbleached band, pre-sorted threads, gold-plated needle, lining fabric, shell button, charts and instructions and Thread Thief charm.

The sweete bag, when complete, measures 5 x 5.5in (12.5 x 14cm) and the faux ivory thread holder 3 x 2.5in (7.5 x 5cm).

I found a little deserted bird’s nest in my garden, and it had many little scraps of embroidery thread wound through the twigs. I guessed what had happened – I had been stitching in the little courtyard garden at our old cottage and had a little box of left-over scraps of thread on the table. I went indoors to check on my son who was having his nap in his bedroom upstairs and when I came back to the table, all my thread scraps were all over the floor. Now we know that little birds will line their nests with scraps of threads, I make sure that I add them to the bird table in the spring.

This is probably the first treasure of many as I love the notion of The Thread Thief.
