Vintage Shaker Needleroll & Scissor Stand Kit

This little horizontal sampler wraps around a vintage bobbin, which is supplied in the kit for you to make.

‘Home Notes’ or ‘Shaker Sayings’ are taken from documents seen in Shaker literature and at the Hancock Museum. I chose this Note as Bill and I often remind ourselves that it good to realise that one is lucky and happy at the time rather than look back and realise that things were good.

To match the main project, I am supplying enough materials to stitch a little cross stitch detail on a tiny scissor keep which is attached to the scissors.

My version is lined in the same linen band which could be embroidered if desired. I have included a few suggested words and numbers so you could add detail to the lining band.

I have created this Treasure specially for my guests joining me on Finder of Treasures.  It all started over a year ago when I found six lovely old wooden bobbins, all of similar size and style. I searched for more of the same and then ordered this linen band from Vaupel & Heilenbeck perfect for what I had in mind.

I love Shaker images and the architecture of Shaker farms and was inspired by the colours of the vintage bobbins and created this roll design in lovely strong shades with minimal backstitch. You can read more about my Shaker inspiration in my Jottings.
