Blossom & Hardanger Needle Poppet
This is an unusual shaped needlebook and you could add a tiny pair of scissors to the pocket if desired. The Hardanger section on the front is lined in pale green silk as is the pin pad that slips inside. It is supplied with four gold-plated needles and two pearl-headed pins. The Hardanger section has tiny pearl coloured seed beads attached after the stitching was completed as an extra detail.
The case measures 3 x 3.5in (7.5 x 9cm) when closed. It will be supplied wrapped in tissue and gift boxed.

The story of this little treasure
Another small treasure that started life as a model for a class I taught here at Pinks Barn. (For the curious, I must add that I no longer have classes at my home as I am supposed to be retired!)
Hardanger is an area around the Hardanger Fjord in Norway that gave its name to this type of counted embroidery, where cut work was a feature of the local dress and is still worn in the present day. I am currently looking forward to another trip Hardanger where we will be staying in a hotel which has the family’s traditional costume in a large glass room at the front of the hotel!
