Finder’s Legacy Box

These very special boxes are for anyone who loves stitching, creating and stroking beautiful things! The late Jane Herbert left an enormous number of finished but unframed pieces of counted needlework and I need them to go to good homes.

Each ‘Legacy Box’ will be different and will be sealed so I will not know who gets what.

Each box will be lined in acid-free tissue and will include the following:

• At least one completed linen sampler stitched by the late Jane Herbert.
• A scissor keep or needleroll stitched by JH with Italian gold-plated scissors attached, or a beaded scissor string with scissors.
• A lovely range of vintage embroidery from my own stash.
• A selection of beautiful materials to inspire your projects – there will be linen evenweave, vintage French linen, Liberty lawn, handmade paper, Indian beads and fabulous Indian ribbons, a faux ivory thread winder and a selection of hand painted threads.

Everything will arrive packed in a luxurious gift box. I have selected these particular boxes as a they are not only good to look at, they are well made and a perfect place for you to store these and other treasures.

For those of you who fancy adding a folded hem around one of Jane’s samplers, I have a video that shows you exactly how to do it.

When I think back to the early days of sampler making, particularly 17th Century band samplers, I remember these were intended as works of reference rather than pictorial in nature and I find this such a fascinating feature of sampler making. I can imagine you discovering your JH sampler in your Legacy Box and hope that you look at the beautiful stitching and the stitch variety and be very inspired by it. Each sampler will be rolled and tied with a linen tape just as they would have been in the 1700s!
