The Secret Inheritance Matchbox Needlebook

Created for me by the marvellous Kate Bowles, my handmade bookmaker. Kate took some of the tiny version of my new linen and has made the most beautiful needlebooks for me. Each book comes complete with its own hand-crafted matchbox trimmed with a little shell button – it’s like a tiny handle on a drawer!

The book is hardback and includes envelopes for tiny treasures and pure linen pages to hold your needles. It closes with a home-dyed linen twisted cord and measures 3 x 2.25in (7.5 x 5.5cm) when shut.

I met Kate for the first time on my stand at the Knitting & Stitching Show in Harrogate some years ago when she was selecting some narrow linen band. We got talking and she showed me an example of her hand-bound books and now I’m never without one. One of my favourite books is one she made me to celebrate supplying Liberty of London for over 25 years! She also makes lovely books for me using my Catherine Archer fabrics.
