Victorian Oval Miniature

This charming Victorian oval miniature includes a small cross stitch motif adapted from an antique sampler, which is worked in counted cross stitch on fine linen. The frame has a charming decorative detail – a group of oak leaves and an acorn holding the hanging ring.

The oval measures 2.5 x 3in (6.5 x 7.5cm) and the complete frame measures 4.75 x 5.75in (12 x 14.5cm) and will be supplied carefully boxed by yours truly.

I have collected old picture frames for some years now as I love to use period frames for my own stitching and for odds and ends that can be framed as novelties around my house. I like to change my arrangements of pictures quite often, so I always have a hammer and nails to hand!

This frame was a little treasure in a big lot of items at the auction room. I do have a bit of a thing about acorns, so it was touch and go if it would end on my wall or yours.
