The Perfect Posy Etui

This precious folded pocket is stitched on Cashel linen in stranded cotton, highlighted with tiny seed beads. The inside is lined in hand-dyed wool felt and contains five gold-plated needles. I have added the finishing touch by attaching a pair of gold-plated Italian chatelaine scissors on a twisted cord.

This piece has a folded hem around the fabric which makes the design appear to be worked diagonally which is just an illusion. The etui is closed with a green satin ribbon with a hand stitched beaded cover for a strong magnet.

The Etui measures 4 x 3in (10 x 7.5cm) when closed and is supplied gift boxed.

This, like so many of Jane Herbert’s finished pieces, was started at one of my linen classes here at Pinks Barn, our home in the Cotswolds. Jane lived not too far away in Cheltenham and was a regular attendee at class.
